What to do

What to do

Take a Journey to the Island, yes it was really an Island, surrounded by water with just a causeway, today the causeway is now the main route to the Island with views overlooking the Old Harbour a Bay of Refuge for ships seeking a home in rough seas and where when the tide is out a home for fun, a place to stroll, take a peak into the water pools or dig for buried treasure.
Barry Island today still offers a Fun Park, admittedly not the size it once was, but children and men are easily fooled. Along the front of the Promenade runs all the slots, cafe's, burger and Pizza Bars and Carlo's Cafe is situated right on the Promenade, for those that do not know it is famed for the BBC Tv Series Gavin n Stacey  a comedy show about life!?!
For those with wonder lust who can not sit on the Beach all day, take a stroll along the Promenade in the direction of the Beach Huts, which are very visible from the beach front, there is  footpath that takes you around the Cliff point is a private (public really but only the locals know it's there) beach, a sheltered haven where come the evening time fires can be found and beach parties are held.
When taking your car if it is in June,July or August, follow the signs to the car park, do not be tempted to find free parking along the road edge, car crime can be found here on a day to day basis.
Why not drive to say Barry Dock Rail Station, Park out front on the public highway for Free then hope on the next Train which runs every 15min and 2 stops down get off at Barry Island, simple or what.
Welcome to Barry Island.
